Biography 
Vedasto R.M. Muhikambele was born on 29th November 1957 in Muleba District of Kagera Region. In 1982 he joined the then Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Science of the University of Dar es Salaam from where he graduated with a bachelor degree in Agriculture (Animal Science option) in 1984. He then in September 1985 went to Norway (Norwegian University of Agriculture, now the University of Life Sciences) for course work and back to SUA in June 1986 for research work leading to MSc. (Agriculture) which he gained in 1990. From May 1990 to June 1993 he was at the University of Reading in the UK for a PhD programme which was successfully concluded.
Regarding his employment record at SUA, Muhikambele was a Tutorial Assistant between November 1984 and June 1987, an Assistant Lecturer between July 1987 and June 1990, a Lecturer between July 1990 and June 1999, a Senior Lecturer between July 1999 and June 2004 and Associate Professor between July 2004 and June 2008. He was promoted to a full Professor in July 2008.
Since his engagement at SUA to-date, Muhikambele has served in teaching of various courses including “Small ruminant production”, “statistics” Experimental designs”, Research methodology”, “Animal nutrition” and “Livestock housing”. He has also participated in various research activities as well as in outreach activities. He has also served in various administrative duties, notable being of Associate Director, then a Director of the former Directorate of Research and Postgraduate Studies (now Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, Research, Technology Transfer and Consultancy) between 2008 and 2017. He has been a member of a number of professional bodies such as TSAP (Tanzania Society of Animal Production).
