ISeBAF is a collaborative project between the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA, Tervuren, Belgium) with the support of the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO). The project intends to recruit two (2) PhD students between January 2021 and December, 2024. The first PhD candidate shall test agroecological methods against fruit flies (Diptera, Tephritidae) attacking cucurbit crops in farmers’ fields in Morogoro, Tanzania, whereas the second candidate shall provide a comparative analysis of syrphid pollinators diversity (Diptera, Syrphidae) in agroecological and conventional cucurbit farming in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Applications from qualified and interested Tanzanians are hereby invited to fill the TWO PhD positions in the fields specified above. The scholarships will ONLY be considered for applicants who have secured admission or submitted application for admission into PhD programmes at SUA. The applicant should possess a master of science (MSc.) in Crop Science or a related agriculture based MSc. degrees with GPA of ≥3.5 from a reputable university. Experience in working on syrphids (pollinators) or tephritids (fruit flies) will be an added advantage. Females are highly encouraged to apply.
