The Department of Crop Science and Horticulture (DCSH) is organised into five sections of Crop Protection, Horticulture, Crop improvement, Agronomy and the African Seed Health Center.
The DCSH has 30 academic staff, five technical staff, three agricultural officers and 22 supporting staff. The DCSH hosts the following degree programs; BSc. Agriculture, BSc. Horticulture, BSc. in Crop Production and Management, MSc. Crop Science, MSc.Horticulture,,MSc. Seed Technology and Business, PhD in Agroecology, an unspecialised PhD and Diploma in Crop production and Management which is offered at Mizengo Pinda Campus.The DCSH has a number of specialised laboratories on molecular biology, plant pests’ diagnostics, fruits and vegetables quality, and seed quality testing. The DCSH manages the Horticulture Unit and the Crop Museum of Sokoine University of Agriculture.
