First Call for 2021 TSAEE Scientific Conference and Call for Papers

The Tanzania Society of Agricultural Education and Extension (TSAEE) is a professional association drawing members from the public, private, civil societies, non-governmental organizations, public, and individuals. It regularly meets on annual basis to deliberate on policy and technological issues related to extension services and producers (farmers, livestock keepers, fishers) empowerment. This is achievable with support from members, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, Presidents’ Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Farm Radio, and One Acre Fund. In this year, the conference will be held from 2nd to 3rd December 2021 in Dodoma.

 It is planned to be attended by representative extension officers from all levels namely, Village, Ward, District, Region, and Agriculture Sector Lead Ministries (ASLMs). Other representatives are from the Sokoine University of Agriculture, Non-governmental Organizations, Civil Societies, producers, Students, and other individuals.

Overall theme: Improved Agricultural Extension Services for Increasing Productivity, Value Addition and Access to Market

 Specific paper topics:

  • Generated technologies and their contributions in improving agricultural productivity, Value Addition, and Access to Market
  • Adoption of generated technologies for improving productivity, Value Addition and Access to Market
  • Linking producers to market and other services from a value chain perspective
  • Institutional arrangements, Strategic partnership, and networking in extension service delivery for improving productivity, Value Addition, and Access to Market
  • Extension approaches and methods, their contribution towards improving extension services for increasing productivity, Value Addition, and Access to Market
  • Policy and other supports from public and private organs in improving the performance of extension services for increasing productivity, Value Addition, and Access to Market
  • The impact of COVID – 19 pandemic in agricultural extension services (EAS) and strategies for improving AES in the pandemic context for improving productivity, Value Addition, and Access to Market

Call for paper abstracts focus on the above theme and specific topics. This invitation is seeking to receive abstracts (short and focused 1-2 pages) by 15th September 2021. The papers should use qualitative and/or quantitative data, be practical, original ideas or field experiences and generate lessons addressing the theme. The TSAEE will review the abstracts, contact the authors by 30th September 2021 and provide guidance to develop full papers for presentation at the conference. The deadline for submission of full papers is 15th November 2021.

Full papers will be presented using a power-point presentation for at most 15 minutes per presentation followed by a 10 minutes question and answer session.
