Dr. Innocent M.Busindeli holds a PhD (Agricultural Education and Extension specializing in Agricultural Communication) and has been teaching, supervising bachelor and postgraduate students’ research and conducting research at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania since 2008. He graduated in BSc Agricultural Education and Extension from SUA in 2003; masters of development degree in Rural Extension, Training and Transformation from Larenstein University of Professional Education-Wageningen University and Research Center, Wageningen, The Netherlands in 2007 and PhD in Agricultural Education and Extension from SUA in 2016. In addition, he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Poverty Analysis jointly offered by Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam Erasmus (The Netherlands), ESRF and REPOA in 2011.
He has worked with MVIWATA as communication and training volunteer and Uluguru Mountains Agricultural Development Project (UMADEP) as field extension staff, community development facilitator and counterpart project coordinator. Dr.Busindeli teaches courses on agricultural extension, extension communication, communication technologies, programme planning and evaluation. He also works as consultant in educational/training video and script writing; socio-economic studies and related development and communication for developmental issues. His research interests include: Interactive media design and use in resource management; communication media preference studies; grass-rooted communication processes; innovation management; power dynamics and relations; visual problem and policy analyses; discourse analysis and pseudo-experimental studies; social dimension in adoption of new innovations and other contemporary communication, innovation and development issues.
He has vast experiences in several development areas such as community and rural development; up scaling new technologies; community governance and engagement and so forth. Lastly, he has published on innovation communication pathways in dissemination of agricultural technologies; power dynamics and relations; participatory action research; System of Rice Intensification; effectiveness of agricultural extension agents and university outreach strategies.
