Dr. Respikius Martin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Community Development at Sokoine University of Agriculture. He holds a PhD in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Tanzania and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, MSc Agricultural Extension from SUA, MS Rural Sociology from Ohio State University, USA and BSc. Agricultural Extension from SUA, Tanzania. His area of specialization is Agricultural Extension and Rural Development. Martin conducts research on food security and sustainable food systems, adoption of agricultural technologies, gender integration in agricultural development, contract farming, agricultural value chains and the use of ICT in agriculture. Dr. Martin has also participated in different collaborative research projects where he has also served as a Principal Investigator (PI) in some of the projects. Dr. Martin also has experience in leadership. Currently, he serves as a chairman of the research and publication committee of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Community Development at SUA and he is a member of various professional associations. Furthermore, Dr. Martin has consulted for a number of organizations including Tanzania Farmers’ Network (MVIWATA), Sugar Board of Tanzania (SBT), Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM), Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP), the Aga Khan Foundation – Tanzania and ITAD, a UK based consulting company.
