2On 16 June 2021, the Community Development Association (CDA) participated in the International Day of the African Child known as MTOTO WA AFRIKA in Kiswahili. They commemorated the event by engaging in an event at SUA Primary school.

3The event involved playing games with children giving them knowledge on children rights and the history of the day itself. The theme for the Day of the African Child (DAC) 2021 is “30 years after the adoption of the Charter: accelerate the implementation of Agenda 2040 for an Africa fit for children”. The rights of the African child are enshrined in Articles 32 and 33 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.

14CDA organised the event and managed to invite several prestigious guests including representatives from the university’s students government, chairman of the ruling party CCM (Chama Cha Mapinduzi) branch of SUA, the chairman of the Rotary club, the International youth mentor, the SUA’s loan officer, and the CRDB SUA branch manager. They also invited representatives from the government including the ward chairperson and ward Community development officer.
