Dr. Madaha Attends a Gender Transformation Approach Training by CARE International

Dr. Rasel Madaha (second on your left) had an opportunity to attend a training on Gender Transformative Approaches. The primary objective of this activity was to train CARE staff from different projects, Ministry of Agriculture staff, Sokoine University of Agriculture staff, and other FFBS partners on Gender transformative analysis and to roll out to the community to encourage reflection and examination themselves on gender roles and norms and power dynamics. The event brought together thirty two (32) participants (18 males, 14 females) to include 2 representatives from Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives, Sokoine University of Agriculture, representatives for Iringa District Executive Director (DED) including project focal person, 3 district community development officers and regional in charge for police gender desk officer, representatives from CARE US as main facilitators and co-facilitators representatives CARE Tanzania. The training was facilitated by by Dr. Pranati Mohanraj (CARE USA Deputy Director | Gender, Youth & Livelihoods Food and Water Systems|Work phone: +91-674-2972488 | Cell phone: +91-9776354098) and George Kurian (Technical Advisor, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning at CARE USA)

The training was held from 20th to 24th March 2023, at Morogoro. The training was offered by CARE International. CARE International is one of the key stakeholders that employ students from Sokoine University of Agriculture. The organization has also played an instrumental role in allowing the Department to meet a number of key stakeholders to support the ongoing curriculum review. The department is currently reviewing its curricula to make them responsive to the market. CARE International is the champion of Famer Field and Business School (FFBS). FFBS is one of the extension approaches producing useful results in Tanzania and elsewhere.
