The Department of Model Traing Farm under College of Agriculture at Sokoine University of Agriculture consist of several units such as Aquaculture unit, Magadu animal unit, Main gate and Horticulture unit.
On monday of july 3, Horticulture unit received visitors from Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) who were accompaigned by the Principal from college of Agriculture Prof. B. Chove, the Deputy Principal DR. Tindwa and the head of Department of Model Training Farm Dr. Newton Kilasi,
Their main objective was to prepare a documentary that will explain in detail all matters pertaing agriculture which are being done at horticulture unit, they got information on grafted friuts seedlings value chain, from how we prepare planting media, filling of polythene tube, sowing of seeds, the proper time from sowing seed to grafting, scion selection criteria, management practices, challenges we face during production and howdo we sale seedlings
Some students got the chance of being interviewed by the TBC journerist.
Also they witnnessed the bulk transport of budded oranges seedlings in which the order were pressed before by Ukerewe District council and almost three thousand orange seedlings were sold and transported.
