The 18th Field Practical Training (FPT) Steering Committee held two meetings at the Council chamber, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Morogoro. On 10th February 2022, the committee met with members from SUA, who are the Departmental FPT coordinators, and members from the Tanzania Prison Services (TPS). On another meeting that was held on 11th February 2022, the members SUA and National Services (NS) met with the committee. The Chairperson of the committee is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) Prof.Maulid Mwatawala. Among other things, the meetings discussed the students’ allocation and distribution to TPS and NS stations for the academic year 2021/2022.

In the Memorandums of Understanding between SUA, NS, and TPS, training of agricultural students is one of the stipulated terms of agreements. In this regard, each year, students will conduct their training at TPS and NS farms whereas SUA will perform soil testing and classification in one of the TPS and NS farms. SUA will also advise on the proper farm management.
