Quality Fish HArvested at the SUA Model Training Farm

The Aquaculture section under the Department of Model Training Farm (DMTF) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is committed to nurturing competent professionals who will address the low productivity and profitability of fish farms and support the blue economy policy in Tanzania.

The DMTF is strategically designed to provide students with real-world practices and experience in every aspect of fish farming, from pond construction to fish processing.

The SUA Model Training Farm was established to enhance the quality of teaching, research, field exercises, and outreach activities related to crops and animal training at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). It aims to provide hands-on training to students, improve course offerings, and produce graduates with practical skills for the job market.
The farm operates under the College of Agriculture (CoA) at SUA, fostering collaboration among different units and departments within the college to deliver comprehensive training in crop, aquaculture, and animal husbandry. Additionally, the Model Training Farm conducts trials, such as grape varieties trials, kernel trials, and others to further research and enhance agricultural practices at SUA.
