Youth-led innovations and community empowerment towards a sustainable future
The 24th International Students Summit (ISS) on Food, Agriculture, and Environment will be held from September 3–6, 2025, under the theme “Youth-led innovations and community empowerment towards a sustainable future.” Organized by Tokyo University of Agriculture (Tokyo NODAI) and IPB University, the summit aims to gather students from global partner universities to discuss critical global challenges related to food systems, environmental sustainability, and agricultural development.
As the world faces increasing threats from climate change, food insecurity, rapid population growth, and environmental degradation, this summit emphasizes the urgent need for collaborative, youth-driven solutions. It recognizes the pivotal role of agricultural science in addressing issues related to food safety, energy, health, and environmental conservation. Students, as future leaders, are called to take active roles in shaping innovative responses to these challenges.
Participants are expected to attend physically and present either oral or poster presentations showcasing student-led initiatives or ideas that contribute positively to their communities. These actions may range from conceptual innovations to ongoing projects and should clearly explain their rationale, methodology, socio-economic and cultural impacts, and potential constraints. Presentations will be categorized under five fields:
-
Agriculture
-
Environment
-
Food
-
Education
-
Nutrition
All submitted manuscripts will undergo a screening process by the ISS Committee to ensure relevance to the summit’s main theme. Each university must designate a faculty advisor to guide and support the participating students. Advisors are encouraged to attend the summit in person if they are self-funded or institutionally supported.
Through this platform, the ISS fosters a dynamic exchange of ideas, enhances global student collaboration, and empowers youth to become active contributors to sustainable development worldwide.
