PERSONAL INFORMATION
BIOGRAPHY:
Safiness Simon Msollo is working as a Lecturer in the department of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania. She is specialized in Human Nutrition as well as Family and Consumer Studies. She is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducting research and consultancy on various aspects of Human Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences.
Dr. Msollo holds a PhD in Life Sciences from Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology with a research focusing on hyperglycemia in pregnancy. She holds MSc. in Human Nutrition, B.Sc. in Home Economics and Human Nutrition both from Sokoine University of Agriculture as well as a Diploma in Chemistry and Biology with Education from Monduli Teachers College.
Dr. Msollo is currently leading two projects on engaging community peer educators on prevention of NCDs in Dodoma funded by SUA through SUARIS project I and another one on improving knowledge on prevention and management of diabetes and hypertension among children in Morogoro region founded by Nestle Foundation. She is involved in research project dealing with potentials of Sodium Chloride and Bicarbonate of Soda in reducing pesticide residues in tomatoes funded by SUA through SUARIS project II. She is also doing a consultancy on Rapid Assessment of Malnutrition especially stunting in eight selected regions of Tanzania funded by Big Win Philanthropy under PO-RLAG
