7. Projects 1. Currently is the SUA Principal Investigator (PI) for a collaborative research project Diverse Food System: Improving Nutrition by Supporting a Diverse and Sustainable Food System. Other partners in the collaboration are the International Lay Volunteers Association of Italy (LVIA), MVIWATA and CUAMM. The project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

 

2. Was the SUA Principal Investigator (PI) for a capacity building research project AFRICITY (Adaptability, Food Security, Risk, and the Right to the City in Sub-Saharan Africa: Towards Sustainable Livelihoods and Green Urban Spaces) – which involved the University of Erlangen (FAU) of Germany. The research covered Tanzania, Malawi and South Africa.

viii.            In October 2020, undertook an assignment for Rikolto Organisation (www.rikolto.org/eastafrica) to conduct a Contextual Analysis of Urban Food Environments for Arusha and Mbeya Cities in Tanzania (Food Smart Cities in East Africa). This was done in conjunction with the Diligent Consulting Limited.

ix.            In February 2021, undertook an assignment for Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) to conduct a study on Hunger, Food Security and Nutrition among city children in Tanzania. This was for UNICEF 2021 SITAN Report.

x.            In July 2021, undertook an assignment for Nutrition International (NI) to conduct a comprehensive Sex and Gender Based analysis (SGBA) to inform improvements in program design and implementation. This was done in conjunction with the Diligent Consulting Limited.

xi.            In October 2021, accomplished an assignment with other three consultants for Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) to formulate the 2nd National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan (NMNAP II) for the period 2021/22 – 2025/26 to replace the National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan (NMNAP) of 2016/17-2020/21. xii.            From January to May 2022 was hired by Particip GmbH of Freiburg, Germany to be part of  Two Consultants to conduct the Final Evaluation of Support to Food Security and Nutrition in Tanzania of the European Commission – EU Delegation to Tanzania (DEC No 037-445) – Lishe Bora Programme.

 

xiii.            From April 2023, has been commissioned by Big Win Philanthropy to lead a team of 5 Experts and 8 Government officials conducting Rapid Assessment of Malnutrition in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar to identify drivers of stunting in the country to inform designing of interventions to be funded by the African Development Bank (ADB).
