A Sweet Ending To A New Beginning

It was a sweet evening with our final year BSc agronomy students who had gathered for their farewell party at Green Palm Hotel. The air was filled with nostalgia and anticipation. These young minds, who had spent years studying soil science, crop management, and sustainable agriculture, are about to embark on a new chapter in their lives in few weeks.

Dr. Boniface Massawe, the Head of the Department of Soil and Geological Sciences (DSGS), and other academic staff participated with eyes filled with pride.

They said “We have watched these students grow from eager freshmen to knowledgeable agronomists. Now, they were ready to spread their wings and make a difference in the world“.

Among the crowd were the ongoing students, their faces a mix of admiration and envy. They looked up to the finalists, hoping to follow in their footsteps. Some whispered to each other, making plans for their own farewell parties in the years to come.

Dr. Massawe stepped forward, raising his glass. “To our finalists,” he said, “May your fields yield abundant harvests, and may your efforts lead to sustainable solutions for our farmers.

The students cheered, their hearts full. They knew that their journey didn’t end here. Some would pursue postgraduate studies here at SUA and abroad, and others would return to the community, armed with knowledge to transform subsistence farming into thriving enterprises.

And so, with hearts full of gratitude, they danced into the night, ready to sow seeds of change wherever life would take them.
