Biography of Dr. Primitiva Andrea Mboyerwa

Primitiva is a Soil scientist, Agronomist, researcher and academician working at Sokoine University of Agriculture, College of Agriculture, Department of Soil and Geological Sciences. She has PhD in Climate Smart Agriculture &Biodiversity Management (Haramaya University, Ethiopia); MSc in Soil science and Land Management (Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania); BSc in Agronomy (Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania).

For the past 14 years, she has studied and researched a wide range of food systems in Tanzania, Africa, Australia and USA focusing on crop productivity, soil health, soil conservation, fertilizer use efficiency, nutrient and water management, tillage practices, mitigation of greenhouse gas/odor emissions, climate smart agriculture and biodiversity management. Her research interest has always been at the soil-water-plant-nutrients-environment interface with a strong emphasis on holistic, integrated approaches for devising crop production with minimal to zero risks to environment and human health.

She is a task oriented, result focused with over a decade of experience in research, teaching, professional and community service in the higher and tertiary education sector. Primitiva is  currently working on research project investigating on “Nexus of Alternate Wetting and Drying Regime and Phosphorus in Rice Cropping Systems of Tanzania”.She is an registered African Food systems Leader from Centre for Africa Leadership in Agriculture – CALA Cohort 2 of 2023 and currently she hold a position of  Departmental  secretary   Research & Publication committee
