Mr. Damiano Raphael Kwaslema is an academic and research scientist in the field of soil microbiology and biochemistry. He is working as an assistant lecturer at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro, Tanzania, where he teaches and mentors undergraduate students on various aspects of soil science and agronomy. He holds a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in soil science and land management and agronomy respectively from SUA.
He has a strong research background and experience in sustainable agriculture, having participated in several projects that aim to improve soil fertility and crop yield using biological and organic inputs. He has authored one peer-reviewed publication on the potential use of Klebsiella variicola as biofertilizer for maize production and has received several awards and recognitions for his academic and research contributions, such as the 2022 African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award, the Department of Soil and Geological Sciences Prize, the Ministry of Agriculture Prize, and the Vice Chancellor’s Prize.
Mr. Kwaslema is passionate about finding innovative and environmentally friendly solutions to address the challenges of soil degradation and food insecurity in Africa. He is also eager to learn new skills and collaborate with other researchers and practitioners in his field. He believes that soil is the foundation of life and that we should protect and enhance it for the benefit of present and future generations.
